Comanche Gala is a Huge Success!

The CHS Education Foundation (CEF) held its inaugural Comanche Gala on Friday, November 6th at Celebrations by Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa.  The theme was “Celebrating Canyon” and the evening included a phenomenal dinner, terrific silent and live auction items, raffle prizes and dancing. Close to 135 people attended the event including Anaheim City Councilman Harry Sidhu and his wife Gin and Lissa Smith from the Orange Board of Education.  Everyone had a really great time and it was lots of fun!  Auctioneer Jim Nye worked the crowd and got everyone excited about bidding on all the live auction items.  A suite for the Duck’s vs. LA Kings game donated by CHS Roller Hockey sold for $1500 to Russ and Pati Cinkle while another Suite for the Duck’s vs. Detroit Redwings game donated by the Anaheim City Council sold for $1200 to Laurie Griffiths.  Harry Sidhu will be Captaining his yacht for a day of boating and jet skiing for two high bidders and 10 of their friends!  It was exciting to watch Suzanne Cruz and Pati Cinkle get into a bidding war over this terrific opportunity and in the end the item was sold twice for $1400 each!  Laurie Griffith’s was also a big winner when she walked away with a bat signed by the Angel’s Vladamir Guerrero plus 10 tickets for 3 different games next season!  Congratulations to all of our high bidders in both the silent and live auctions.  Guests were also very generous for the Fund-A-Need auction where these straight monetary pledges will benefit many academic needs at Canyon.  Fund-A-Need alone raised $5500 and was used to purchase 18 new computers for the library.  Another $22,000 raised by the event will be used to address the needs of the teachers and students at Canyon High School. Thanks to the underwriters, sponsors and everyone who donated items for the auction and raffle. 

The Gala could not have been a success without you and all of the wonderful volunteers who so graciously gave up their valuable time to help before, during and after the event. We want to especially thank the Gala Steering Committee; Andrea Yamasaki, Helen Yoon, Karin Altonaga, Jody Kamifuji, Karen Uyematsu, Camille Kittridge, Steve Reed, Margaret Sandoval, Deanna Drum, Kerri Pintches, Vicky Bowden and Tammy Pinkerton for their tireless efforts and logging in countless hours planning the event.  We’re looking forward to doubling the attendance and revenue at next year’s event!  See you all there!
